The 4th International Environmental Best Practices Conference “Biorefinery – Biobased Value Chains and Sustainable Development” : Olsztyn, Poland

Time Sep 08, 2013 to
Sep 12, 2013
PlaceOlsztyn, Poland
NotesThe Conference will summarise research achievements and new trends in many interrelated aspects associated with biorefinery processes and products. They will be discussed in the eight consecutive research panels of session presentations and posters.
Event type

The concept of a biorefinery generating a spectrum of biomass-based products arranged in a value chain is the biggest research challenge for the next decades. Firstly, the development of this concept requires an interdisciplinary research approach as it is only through convergence of achievements at the crossroads of many sciences, including green, red and white biotechnology, technical, agricultural, environmental, social and economic sciences, will create synergistic scientific effects. And secondly, applied research effects associated with biorefineries, new biorefinery processes and products implemented in the future market portfolio will integrate three fundamental areas of sustainable development: economy, environment, and society.

Conference topics:

Biorefinery – Research Progress and Opportunities
Feedstock
Genetics and Biotechnology
Biomass Pretreatment
Bioprocesses and Bioproducts
Valorization of Waste, Effluents and By-products by Microorganisms and Enzymes
Thermal, Chemical and Biochemical Conversion of Biomass to Useful Energy
Environmental Impact
