Biogas is the future

One of the partners in Bioenergy Promotion 2 is Skaraborgsregionen in the southwest of Sweden. Here, biogas production is regarded as the obvious solution to many problems: it can create work opportunities and it makes use of household waste as well as waste products from food industries and farms. And it can replace fossil fuel as vehicle fuel on a big scale.

First Bioenergy Promotion 2 project conference was held in Skövde, Sweden on 18th of October 2012. This flagship project of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region Bioenergy Promotion 2 supports regions in reaching the EU’s target for renewable energy of 20% by 2020.

Insight into Bioenergy Promotion 2 project conference

First Bioenergy Promotion 2 project conference was held in Skövde in Skaraborg, Sweden on 18th of October 2012. Bioenergy Promotion 2 partners had a session at the yearly conference Framtidsforum (Forum for the Future). The conference focuses on issues that concerns rural development. This year the topics were energy, tourism, food and CAP.

Bioenergy Promotion 2 – From strategies to activities

The work, started during the Bioenergy Promotion-project, will be continued in the framework of the “extension stage” instrument of the Baltic Sea Region Programme. The objective of the project activities of the thirteen project partners during the Extension Stage is to extend the strategic outputs of the main stage project into the Baltic Sea Region and national political arenas and also into the daily grind of utility companies and local and regional administration.

Governmental Program for agricultural biogas production development in Poland – challenges and opportunities

“Biomass potential in Poland is estimated to enable biogas production in the amount of ca. 2 biollion cubic meter by 2020. In order to use this potential, Polish government has prepared the program entitled ‘Directions for agricultural biogas-plants development in Poland in 2010-2020’, which is currently discussed by the Council of Ministers”, says Mr Marek Sawicki, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland.
