Governmental Program for agricultural biogas production development in Poland – challenges and opportunities

“Biomass potential in Poland is estimated to enable biogas production in the amount of ca. 2 biollion cubic meter by 2020. In order to use this potential, Polish government has prepared the program entitled ‘Directions for agricultural biogas-plants development in Poland in 2010-2020’, which is currently discussed by the Council of Ministers”, says Mr Marek Sawicki, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland.

Achievements in the first year of the Bioenergy Promotion project

After one year of solid work on the Bioenergy Promotion project, Sonja Ewerstein is able to sum up the achivements so far. One significant achievement is that the Bioenergy Promotion project has been selected as a flagship project in the European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, and that can be seen as a stamp of approval for the overall progress of the project. The objective of WP 3 Policy within the project Bioenergy Promotion is to promote a sustainable production and use of biomass for energy purposes. As a part of WP 3, task 3.1 have been working on the development and formulation of principles and criteria for a sustainable production of bioenergy.

Posters from poster session “Examples of national strategies & measures on the implementation of sustainability criteria for biofuels” in Berlin on 12th of March 2010
